The Piano Orchestra Project is a great excuse to make a lot of noise at the local piano shop. Everyone is welcome to participate.

Last year, the Piano Orchestra performed it's inaugural performance. Fourteen performers, nine pianos and 24 hands played a version of Umi's Lullaby by Australian composer Sonny Chua. The performance took place as part of International Piano Week. The Piano Orchestra Project aims to prove that everyone is musical and we can all contribute to the music making process. It's out to prove that learning the piano does not have to be an elite activity or high pressure experience.

In 2015 The Piano Orchestra Project will perform again. This year, we are proud to be participating in the 2015 Darebin Music Feast. We are aiming to double the numbers of performers. You are invited to participate in the orchestra by expressing your interest in the form below. You will be sent the music for this year's orchestra performance.

Gavin Gray from Gray's Piano World is our gracious (and very brave) host for this year's Piano Orchestra Performance. Find out more about Gavin here in an article that appeared the The Art's Centre publication. Visit his shop and website for all your piano needs.  www.grayspianoworld.com.au

Who should take part?

The Piano Orchestra Project is a community arts project for all. I am hoping that students and parents will play alongside well seasoned players and teachers. Piano teachers are encouraged to bring their students to the event and to take part themselves. This is a friendly performing environment which aims to get people involved.

Piano duet/trio chalk board concert.
Following the "orchestra" performance, there will be a short chalk board style concert of piano duets and trio. Piano teachers, do you and your students have some great duet/trio repertoire that your students are learning and would like to perform? Send an email to katwilsonobrien@gmail.com with your piece, duration and student’s name to take part in the piano duet/trio chalk board following the orchestra performance. Places are limited so get in quick!
