why do you want to learn piano?

• I learnt piano in the past and want to keep playing • I'm a singer and would like to learn how to play piano with my singing • My children were learning but then they quit so now I want to learn • I thought a grand piano would look good in my living room so I bought one •I'm a [insert instrument here] teacher and would like to learn some keyboard skills• I've inherited an old family piano and want to learn how to play it • I'm 80 years old and never played a musical instrument so I thought now is a good time to start • I play 10 instruments and just haven't got around to learning piano yet • I bought a piano from the op shop for $1 • I'm still recovering from childhood piano lessons with the wicked witch of the west• I want to play piano better than my kids •  I want to play the moonlight sonata • I want to do a piano exam • I'm terrified of performing in public • My great grand father who escaped the war used to play and now that I have his instrument, I am on a quest to learn everything about it and connect with him in an eerie spiritual kind of way while uncovering my family's secret history•

I've heard many stories about why people want to learn a musical instrument. They are always very inspiring stories and I'm keen to hear more. This series of piano workshops aim to create an inspiring place to learn and meet others who are also learning. They aim to give adults the excuse. to get out of the house and play. There are no expectations for students to commit to weekly lessons or find the time to do hours of practice in busy schedules. Perhaps you will feel inspired to keep playing at the end of it all.

Piano classes will be held in a quirky venue with a well stocked bar and a room full of pianos. A bunch of good quality people, and intriguing music. There will be a bit of talk about inspiring things, a bit of listening, a bit of playing with others, a bit of learning your own music, a bit of time at the bar and some recommendations of music you may like to learn
